August 09, 2022 - The Lord our God is three Lords?

This topic of Modalism or Oneness is hot right now and is being promoted by preachers who are reaching all ages with simplistic explanations of the Godhead. Those who do not read the bible for themselves can easily be led astray by this heresy.

Standard theology regarding The Godhead generally recognizes two camps: the doctrine of Oneness and the doctrine of the Trinity. Your Christian life and development can be compromised if you do not understand the basics of The Godhead.

Before reading further, let’s define some terms.
  1. Modalism - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are different manifestations of one and the same person.
  2. Trinity - The doctrine that there are three distinct persons in the Godhead.
  3. Oneness - same as Modalism
  4. Person - An individual of specified character.
  5. Godhead – Father, Son, Holy Spirit
  6. God = Father
  7. Word = Jesus
  8. Holy Ghost = Holy Spirit = Spirit of truth
Modalism purports that there is one God (true) and that He manifests himself as three different forms (false). The tip off to this lie is how it pushes aside the deity of Christ and focuses on God. This is largely heard and promoted in Contemporary Christian music by the absence of Jesus name or His precious blood that bought you in the lyrics. So much of the music these days repeatedly mentions God and throws in a ‘Jesus’ for good measure. No Bueno.

One major problem with Modalism is that it takes away the personal and sincere, individual love of each person that has been expressed toward us which can cripple our worship and thanksgiving to God. God the Father so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, who loved us so much that He endured death so that we could ever be with Him. Jesus prayed for us with all sincerity before we were even born (John 17) and ever lives to make intercession for us right now! While we are in this world, like the first Adam, God was not willing that we should be alone so He sent the Comforter to be with us until our hope of ever being with Him should be realized.

Another problem with Modalism is that it becomes a steppingstone to the New Age cult. Because the bible states emphatically that those who are in Christ have become one in Him, does that mean that we are equal with God? …yikes

Even the doctrine of the Trinity, which says that there are three persons in the Godhead (true) sometimes purports that each person is God which says there are three God’s (false). The coequal message permeates heretical messages throughout many churches in America. Husband and wife are one but NOT coequal partners. The Father, Word, and Holy Spirit are one but NOT coequal partners. We are one in Christ but NOT coequal partners. The Body of Christ is one body with many members who do NOT have the same office, gift, or measure of faith.
John 17:21 Colossians 3:18 Ephesians 5:22 Mark 14:36 John 16:13 I Corinthians 15:24,28 Romans 12:4

Trinity or Oneness, which is correct?

To pledge your allegiance to one of these doctrines is error. Allow the scriptures to speak for themselves. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth.

I John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

John 1:1, 14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

I Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. ... 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. ... 20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. ... 26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. ... 28...If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

I like the way Chuck put it...

Notice the Individual Distinctives of each member of the Trinity:

  • Equal in nature
  • Separate in person
  • Subservient in duties

January 21, 2022 - Beware the 'ism

When I talk to everyday Americans in their 20’s or 30’s today about their worldview, I find that they are generally concerned with only one aspect of life… economics. They seem to be apathetic to issues regarding social or religious liberties. In short, they believe that work-life and compensation ratios are disproportioned and that it's rich people's fault. These are adamant that “the system” needs to change because the one-percenters have ruined the world.

While I can appreciate their passion for reform, it seems that these age groups don’t feel that their social or religious rights are being ripped from them. Why is that?

Over the past 30 years, there have been major changes in American society which put the Judeo-Christian ethos to sleep. The 20 and 30-year-olds of today did not experience the strength of this worldview but rather a world that embraced Modernism.
MODERNISM

Modernism is an encompassing label for a wide variety of cultural movements. (link)

… From this perspective, modernism encouraged the re-examination of every aspect of existence, from commerce to philosophy, with the goal of finding that which was 'holding back' progress and replacing it with new ways of reaching the same end. [how to have society without adherence to God] (link)

While there are countless ‘isms that war against the American way of life, I will only focus on that which is spiritual in this post. Below is a list of other ‘isms that are part of the reason why the slogan, dare I say mantra, ‘for God and country’ is not resonating with younger generations.

  • Atheism: Disbelief in the existence of any gods.
  • Collectivism: An ideology part and parcel to Communism, Socialism, Marxism, and Totalitarianism. Destroys religious freedom.
  • Communism: Abolishes all religion! The Marxist-Leninist doctrine advocating revolution to overthrow the capitalist system and establish a dictatorship of the proletariat that will eventually evolve into a perfectly egalitarian and communal society.
  • Darwinism: God is not the creator of all life, man evolved from a single cell of life that came from nowhere. Genesis 1:1
  • Environmentalism: A tool of Communism. Global lordship without religion.
  • Feminism: Touts women are greater than or equal to men which is antithetical to God’s creation and order. Enmity with God. I Corinthians 11:3 and I Timothy 2:13,14
  • Globalism: Communism the world over.
  • Hedonism: Lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. Easy to see this manifested in modern Christian churches that proclaim that it’s God’s will for you have a life of sensual pleasure.
  • Inclusivism and Religious Pluralism: All spiritual paths lead to the same god. The bible teaches that there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; I Timothy 2:5
  • Marxism: Together with Marx, Engels co-developed communist theory. Karl Marx, the founder and primary theorist of Marxism, viewed religion as "the soul of soulless conditions" or the "opium of the people". (link)
  • Materialism: Only believe in what you see. No faith in the unseen whatsoever. John 20:29
  • Naturalism: The idea or belief that only natural laws and forces (as opposed to supernatural ones) operate in the universe.
  • Pantheism: The view that the Universe (in the sense of the totality of all existence) and God are identical (implying a denial of the personality and transcendence of God). John 4:23,24
  • Polytheism: The belief and worship of many gods, even goddesses. Direct contrast to the bible which shows that there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; I Timothy 2:5
  • Relativism: The theory, especially in ethics or aesthetics, that conceptions of truth and moral values are not absolute but are relative to the persons or groups holding them. This view is antithetical to the bible which states that The Word is truth, God is the God of Truth, and that ALL people have a sense of absolute right and wrong.
  • Secularism: Religious skepticism or indifference
  • Socialism: No longer live to please God but live for the benefit of the state and common good. The state replaces God. The intermediate stage between capitalism and communism.
  • Totalitarianism: A form of government in which the ruler is an absolute dictator (not restricted by a constitution or laws or opposition etc.) Church gatherings IF allowed. Likely forced to worship a false god or die.
HUMANISM

Probably the most prevalent enemy to the biblical worldview is Humanism. The first few lines of Wikipedia give a sufficient description of the philosophy: (link)

Secular humanism, often simply called humanism, is a philosophy or life stance that embraces human reason, secular ethics, and philosophical naturalism while specifically rejecting religious dogma, supernaturalism, and superstition as the basis of morality and decision making. Secular humanism posits that human beings are capable of being ethical and moral without religion or belief in a deity.
From the list above, it’s clear to see how these 'isms have been promoted heavily over the past 30 years and how they all have the same goal in common; make God Almighty a proverb and a byword among all people.

Understanding the onslaught of opposition that has come against the biblical worldview over the past 30 years makes it easy to see how 20 and 30-year-olds seem to be oblivious to social and religious freedoms that older generations are still holding on to and fighting for. Given this satanic assault, could their ignorance have been avoided? Who was supposed to teach them their Christian and American Heritage?
